Alwaleed Philanthropies Global, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, has collaborated with the Jahjaga Foundation to equip Kosovo's Nuclear Medicine Clinic with a cutting-edge SPECT/CT/PET medical device. Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, met with the President of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Dr. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, in Pristina, Kosovo to support healthcare advancements in the region.


The combined efforts of Alwaleed Philanthropies, Jahjaga Foundation, as well as Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, and Kosovo Minister of Health, Arben Vitia have brought this state-of-the-art technology to the clinic, significantly improving patient care and reinforcing Kosovo's commitment to enhancing its healthcare infrastructure.

HRH Princess Lamia also participated in the official handover ceremony for the SPECT/CT/PET medical device, held under the patronage of President Osmani. Alwaleed Philanthropies Forms Strategic Partnership with FutureLearn to Enhance Educational Opportunities

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) have announced the launch of a Covid-19 response initiative in the Ivory Coast. The initiative will provide food supplies and hygienic products to vulnerable communities in affected areas as part of the emergency humanitarian response to the pandemic.



The launch will be marked by an event on 25th June 2020 with the presence of HE Adama Diawara, Minister of Higher Education of Ivory Coast and President of ICESCO national commission in Cote d’Ivoire, Didier Drogba, award-winning footballer who will be represented by the team of his Foundation.



Emphasizing the importance of the initiative, HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Saud AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" said, “In the face of a pandemic, we all have a part to play; when we protect our health, we protect the health of our communities. Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and ICESCO are collaborating in a series of initiatives to empower the health sector and mitigate the economic effects of the pandemic across 10 African countries. This fund, part of a global campaign by Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" to tackle Covid-19, will be used to build local capacity in the production of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the most vulnerable in society, as well as provide critical capital to support small and community businesses to survive potential economic fallout. Alwaleed Philanthropies donated electric generators to three villages in Aseer region in Om Onayg, Altharwah and Asfal Aljafrah village.

Lighting Up Towns &amp; Villages has resulted in bringing light into people’s lives in Saudi Arabia’s most remote locations – 500 villages, benefiting over 43,527 households and over 212,000 people.

The Foundation achieved this by installing electricity power generators that have a 10-year life span in thousands of villagers who benefited from the project.

The national power grid does not cover these villages. However, they are listed to be connected with the grid during the lifetime of the generators. Lighting Up Lives exemplifies one of the basic tenets of Alwaleed Philanthropies: We offer help where it is needed desperately.

Alwaleed Philanthropies, that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) in a unique partnership with the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation Co-Chaired by Mr. Bill Gates to bolster the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Alwaleed Philanthropies pledged $30 Million to that effort.

The MOC was jointly signed by Prince Alwaleed and Mr. Bill Gates. This global commitment is based on a well-defined strategy aimed at reaching a common goal for improving the quality of life for individuals around the world.

Details of the collaboration will be announced as part of The Global Vaccine Summit “Celebrating Progress, Saving Lives” that will take place on April 24th, 2013 in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with HH General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and in partnership with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Mr. Bill Gates.

Building on recent successes, the Summit will endorse the critical role that vaccines and immunization play in saving lives and protecting children for life. It aims to turn a spotlight on the importance of building and maintaining powerful routine immunization systems to keep all children healthy, no matter where they live. Ms. Safia Al Attas, Project Officer of National Initiatives, received the award on behalf of HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, during Enjaz Saudi’s Annual Ceremony. The program aims to provide 10,000 housing units and 10,000 cars to Saudi citizens throughout the Kingdom over 10 years. So far, Alwaleed Philanthropies has provided 22,666 beneficiaries with houses and cars as part of its "Housing and Car Grants" program. The number of beneficiaries of the housing program reached 15,666 and those of the car program is 7,000.

The foundation seeks to improve the living standards of Saudi citizens through various community development programs. The "Housing and Car Grants" program is one of the most important local programs, as it supports Saudi families with low incomes by helping them reduce their monthly expenses that go towards housing rents and transportation. The "Housing and Car Grants" program is accessible to all citizens, has no age limit, and does not require any registration fees. 22,666 Beneficiaries from the "Housing and Car Grants" Program of Alwaleed Philanthropies 

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, and the Ministry of Health announced today they have joined forces to launch a two-year anti-smoking campaign, targeting smokers and non-smokers across the country. The partnership has come to fruition to address the prevalence and dangers of tobacco use as one of the major public health concerns in Saudi Arabia. The campaign is part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious strategic tobacco control plan of reducing smoking rates from 19.8% to 8% and enhancing the quality of preventive and therapeutic health care services as a part of its Vision 2030.

Commenting on the partnership, HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, Chairman of Alwaleed Philanthropies said, “We are determined to enhance the quality of lives of citizens and residents across the Kingdom and are pleased to be partnering with the Ministry of Health to reduce the prevalence of smoking and raise awareness of its dangers in Saudi Arabia. This partnership is very much in line with our commitment to making sustainable philanthropic investments to empower people, near and far.”

The first phase of the awareness campaign will target non-smokers, while the second phase will focus on smokers. Moreover, in an effort to identify violators of government anti-smoking regulations, Alwaleed Philanthropies and the Ministry of Health will be directing people to a mobile application to report and monitor violations of anti-smoking regulations, including smoking in public places, selling tobacco to minors and advertising cigarette or shisha smoking on television channels.

According to the World Health Organisation, the tobacco use epidemic is one of the major global public health challenges, causing over 7 million deaths due to smoking-related diseases each year, 70,000 of which are Saudi citizens . A previous Saudi Health Information Survey revealed Saudi Arabia had a total of 5.5 million smokers, equating to 23% of the Kingdom’s population.

•	In collaboration with UN-Habitat, the Adequate Housing Project will support the restoration of 600 housing units for low-income households in Yemen 

•	Building the Future for Yemeni Youth Project, in partnership with Education for Employment, will provide occupational training and job opportunities for over 660 youth

12 January 2020, Riyadh: Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, signed two memorandums of cooperation (MoC) with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), represented by the Secretary General of the Philanthropy, HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud and SDRPY’s Supervisor, Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber. The first agreement is in collaboration with UN-Habitat, represented by the Program’s Executive Director, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, to launch the ‘Adequate Housing Project’. The second agreement is in collaboration with Education for Employment (EFE), represented by its Executive Officer, Andrew Baird, to implement an educational program, entitled: Building the Future for Yemeni Youth. Ultimately, the projects are expected to positively impact 4,860 people in Yemen. 

The virtual event was attended by ministers, senior officials and representatives from Yemen, including the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Abdullah Badhib, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zaouri and Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Manea Bayamain. 

Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, SDRPY Supervisor, said: “The initiatives are part of our ongoing efforts to assist the Government in Yemen by restoring housing, and offering placement programs, job trainings, and self-employment opportunities to youth, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.”

Commenting on the announcement, HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Saud Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies said, “Adequate housing and proper job placements are vital in economic, social, and civic development. If addressed properly, a myriad of socio-economic benefits can be reaped and business opportunities will grow.”

In coordination with the Yemeni government and local authorities, and in cooperation with civil society organizations, the “Adequate Housing Project” aims to restore 600 housing units for low-income households in Aden and other areas with low living standards in Yemen. 

Studies conducted by the vested parties indicate that the project is expected to benefit up to 4,200 people directly, in addition to indirect beneficiaries of the improvements to the urban landscape of the residential neighborhoods, and the general improvement of the social and economic conditions. Moreover, the project will benefit more than 200 unemployed youth by providing vocational training, while 1600 new job opportunities will be created during the implementation period.

The second project, entitled: Building the Future for Yemeni Youth, will aim to provide occupational training and job opportunities for 660 youth and their families, to improve the living standards and achieve economic stability in targeted areas. 

Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director of UN-Habitat, noted: “This partnership will enhance our contributions in Yemen and will enable us to provide assistance and support for these underprivileged groups.” While Andrew Baird, EFE’s CEO, commented “Since 2006, EFE has linked over 114,000 Arab youth to a job or the world of work. Alwaleed Philanthropies signs MoC with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen to support 4,860 people through housing and educational initiatives

His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal AlSaud, Chairman of Alwaleed Philanthropies, delivered the second installment of equipped vehicles in partnership with The Physically Disabled Adults Association (Harakia), Careem, and Aljazirah Vehicles Agencies. The Foundation will provide 200 equipped cars over the course of 7 years for the disability beneficiaries of women and men after being trained by the relevant authorities.

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Tala AlSaud has distributed the cars to the beneficiaries at the Kingdom Tower in Riyadh on Tuesday March 26. The distribution of the cars took place in the presence of HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies. Ms. Amal Al Kathiri, Executive Director of the National Initiatives Department. Also, present from The Physically Disabled Adults Association representatives were: Eng. Nasser Bin Mohammed Al Mutawa, Chairman of the Board. In addition to a number of board members and directors of the association.

This initiative aims in helping the youth, both males and females, with physical disabilities to become more mobile and independent. This will greatly enhance their quality of life, in addition to their gaining a greater ability to participate in society, and to having equal opportunities for employment, as these are necessary for the development of the economy, and the enrichment of the workforce. The most recent royal decree, which allowed women to drive, will also serve this initiative.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Delivers the Second Instalment of Cars Equipped to Empower People with Physical Disability

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, the global philanthropic foundation, has made a fresh commitment to preventing the spread of disease by investing a further US $5 million in its partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.



The commitment will provide extra funding between 2020 and 2024 to support organisations known by Gavi as ‘pacesetters’ that are developing new innovations to improve vaccine access and delivery, particularly in urban areas. The foundation will make the investment through Gavi’s INFUSE initiative (Innovation for Uptake, Scale and Equity in Immunisation), which identifies these ‘pacesetters’, provides funding and support for them, and connects them to authorities in countries that need vaccination support.



The grant is part of a range of efforts by Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" to improve routine immunisation and contributes to Gavi’s mission to ensure that every child is immunised with basic life-saving vaccines no matter where they live and builds on the original US $1 million investment made in 2015 to support vaccines in Timor Leste, Kiribati, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Guyana for the 2016-2020 programme.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" invests $5 million with Gavi’s INFUSE initiative to support the global fight for vaccines

His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal AlSaud, Chairman of Alwaleed Philanthropies, delivered the third instalment of vehicles for two separate projects in Saudi Arabia. The first project with a delivery of 15 additional cars is aimed towards enhancing the quality of life of persons with lower body disabilities in KSA, allowing them to become more mobile and independent. The initiative is in partnership with The Physically Disabled Adults Association (Harakia). The second project which also involved a delivery of 15 additional cars is part of Alwaleed Philanthropes efforts to support and empower Saudi women to work as Captainahs, for the Careem platform in Saudi Arabia, allowing them to become more independent and participate in wider economic development. Both initiatives are currently in their third instalment and are in partnership with Aljazirah Vehicles Agencies.



The Harakia initiative equips disabled persons with basic skills they need to gain employment, providing them with a greater ability to participate in society and in the development of the economy. Alwaleed Philanthropies will provide 200 specially equipped cars over a seven-year period for the disabled beneficiaries both women and men. They will be able to drive after being trained by the relevant local authorities.



The initiative with Careem, aims to empower and provide greater ability to women to participate in society and to seek equal opportunities for employment. This would enrich the workforce in Saudi Arabia and add to further development of the economy. Alwaleed Philanthropies has pledged 100 vehicles to Careem as part of this overall project.

Both initiatives will help to empower people by providing them with a purpose and role within society as well as the economy. As the Harakia initiative shows, by applying simple and cost-effective technology, we can make long lasting and life changing differences to people’s lives. On the other hand, with our initiative with Careem, we aim to further develop and invest in women's talents and increase their participation in the labour force from 22% to 30%.”

Alwaleed Philanthropies delivers third instalment of cars with an aim to enhance the lives of persons with physical disabilities and empower women in Saudi Arabia

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, signed a memo of understanding with the Housing Development Foundation - Sakan - on Thursday, 16/7/2020. The prior agreement aims to support the families with the greatest need for adequate housing across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including those covered by social welfare at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and entitled to housing support offered by the Ministry of Housing.

The agreement was signed by and Mrs. Amal Al-Kathiri, Executive Director of National Initiatives at Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Engineer Mishary bin Fahd Al Juwaira, CEO of the Housing Development Foundation (SAKAN) Engineer Al-Juwaira further explained that Sakan seeks to cooperate with the third sector carefully to provide better housing support for families in need across the Kingdom to meet the set standards. He also highlighted that Sakan aims to achieve a definite impact on the housing development, while also making impressive progress through orchestrating all-out and concerted efforts spearheaded by effective partnerships with the public and private sectors.

In the same vein, Engineer Al-Juwaira spelled out that one of the critical pathways of the said memorandum is to provide Alwaleed Philanthropies with the lists of families entitled to such housing support that fully meet the eligibility criteria to accommodate them within Alwaleed Philanthropies Housing Program.
Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al-Husseini, advisor to Sakan, remarked; through the said message, we build various development programs across the professional and social life levels for the families benefiting from the housing units of Alwaleed Philanthropies. Such families are entitled to housing support by the Ministry of Housing to be well trained and gain labor market skills and better cope with challenges and changes in such a manner as to improve the standard of living and raise the savings-related awareness of such families.

For her part, Mrs. Amal Al-Kathiri highlighted the paramount importance of the said agreement in coordinating the efforts made between the two parties in development housing, which is assigned a high priority among the packages of community initiatives and projects. Al-Kathiri further explained that Alwaleed Philanthropies always seeks to organize the efforts between sectors that aim to develop and empower the community economically.

Equally important, Al-Kathiri stated that the said memorandum aims to refurbish and restore the housing units to increase them up to 400 houses in various regions of the Kingdom while engaging voluntarily teams specialized in housing volunteering activity and highlighting their community role.
Alwaleed Philanthropies has contributed to providing housing units to more than 16.000 beneficiaries since the launch of its development housing project in 2015; it delivers housing units to families after ensuring that they are eligible for such housing support through the eligibility gateway for social research.
Al-Kathiri also emphasized the development side of such families through specialized programs that transfer them from the pastoral circle to the development field.

Given the current precautionary measures due to the COVID19 pandemic, the two parties signed the agreement document virtually via video conference (online).

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal AlSaud, announced lighting up the iconic Kingdom Tower in Riyadh in orange Saturday, January 30th, to join the world in celebrating the second annual World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Day.

From the Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia to the Colosseum in Rome, more than 50 landmarks representing over 25 nations across the world showcased their support on World NTD Day by lighting up the building “orange” in celebrating the progress of beating NTD.
1 in 5 people on the planet are affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), many of which can be prevented, eliminated or even eradicated with improved access to existing safe and cost-effective tools.

Kingdom Tower Lights up in Orange to Mark World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, announces the 8th installment of the "Housing and Car Grants" program. The program aims to provide 10,000 housing units and 10,000 cars to Saudi citizens throughout the Kingdom over 10 years. So far, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" has provided 21,000 beneficiaries with houses and cars as part of its "Housing and Car Grants" program. The number of beneficiaries of the housing program reached 15,000 and those of the car program is 6,000.

The foundation seeks to improve the living standards of Saudi citizens through various community development programs. The "Housing and Car Grants" program is one of the most important local programs, as it supports Saudi families with low incomes by helping them reduce their monthly expenses that go towards housing rents and transportation. The "Housing and Car Grants" program is accessible to all citizens, has no age limit, and does not require any registration fees. 21,000 Beneficiaries from the "Housing and Car Grants" Program of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"

11th July 2021, Riyadh: Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, signed a SAR 2 billion partnership agreement with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, and the Housing Development Foundation (SAKAN) to support the existing ‘Housing and Car Grant’ program. The program will enhance adequate housing for families most in need and provide means of transportation.

The ‘Housing and Car Grant’ program, currently one of Alwaleed Philanthropies largest initiatives, seeks to provide 10,000 homes and 10,000 cars within five years across all regions in Saudi Arabia. Through collaboration, Alwaleed Philanthropies and their partners will improve the standard of living for Saudi citizens through reduced housing costs and transportation expenses, in addition to, supporting development housing projects across Saudi Arabia.

Alwaleed Philanthropies expands ‘Housing and Car Grant’ program, establishing largest partnership agreement with Saudi public sector amounting to SAR 2 billion

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal AlSaud, participated in a consultation workshop that marks the launch of “Adequate Housing Project” in partnership with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Programme for Yemen (SDRPY), and UN-Habitat to rehabilitate 600 houses for low-income families in the Yemeni city of Aden.

The project aims to contribute to a sustainable solution for the vulnerable families of IDP’s and returnees in Aden city with the specific objective of improving the living conditions and social cohesion of displaced people, returnees and their host communities, in the priority districts of the governorate through rehabilitation of the damaged housing.

The project will benefit over 4000 people, will also support 200 unemployed youth with vocational training. Some 1600 new jobs will be created during the implementation period in coordination with the Yemeni Government and local authorities, and in cooperation with civil society organizations.

The participants discussed different approaches to reach the most effective implementation plan, selection of targeted neighbourhoods and end beneficiaries. Recommendations were made to be further discussed among parties.

The Head of SDRPY Office in Aden, Eng. Ahmed Madkhali stated: “The Adequate Housing project, came as an extension of the SDRPY’s cooperation and continuous coordination with the Yemeni government and the local authority, and as a result of the agreement signed on January 13, 2021, with AP and UN-Habitat to implement the housing sector support program in the Republic of Yemen. In addition to that, the project will contribute to improving the urban landscape of residential neighbourhoods in the governorate of Aden, as the project will restore 600 homes at a rate of 150 homes for each district."

The Launch of Adequate Housing Project for Restoration of 600 Low-Income Housing Units in Yemen

Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Abdulaziz Al Saud, has announced the list of beneficiaries of the 13th installment of the "Housing and Car Grants" program. The program aims to provide 10,000 housing units and 10,000 cars to Saudi citizens throughout the Kingdom over 10 years. To date, Alwaleed Philanthropies has provided 26,865 beneficiaries with houses and cars as part of the program. This is made up of 16,545 beneficiaries from the housing program and 10,320 from the car program.

Prince Alwaleed Celebrates Saudi National Day by Distributing Housing Units in Support of Saudi Citizens. Alwaleed Philanthropies' Housing Initiative Reaches More Than 8,000 Beneficiaries. HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alwaleed Philanthropies, celebrated the Saudi National Day on Tuesday 23rd September 2014, with the residents of Otayqua community in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Housing Initiative. Thousands of eligible Saudi citizens have received housing units in the Otayqua district. This initiative reflected the values of the National Day’s spirit. This action brings the number of beneficiaries of the Alwaleed Philanthropies' Housing Initiative to more than 8,000 Saudi citizens.

Upon His Royal Highness’s arrival to the location, the people of Otayqua gathered around him to express their genuine delight with his visit to share such a celebration. During the visit, His Royal Highness clearly expressed his interest in identifying the living conditions of the Otayqua residents and their needs that could be met by the Foundation. In this regard, Prince Alwaleed was adamant to hand over the units to the beneficiaries in person and attended four separate lunch invitations by the families.

Lastly, the visit was concluded with Magh’reb prayer with the residents at Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque accompanied by Alsheikh Zaid AlMugaidhed. Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), chaired by HRH  Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, in partnership with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "ISESCO", co-launched the 1st caravan for charity in an effort to reduce the anguish of deprivation among the citizens of Al-Joufah in the Southern Shouneh District in Jordan.



The Medical, Educational and Socio-cultural Caravan, which is the first in Asia, in collaboration with the Jordanian University, aims at supporting and alleviating the suffering of the residents of remote areas for a period of four days, and it targets 15.000 persons.



The Deputy Director General of the Islamic Organization "ISESCO", Dr. Amina Al-Hajri, stressed that the health affairs are one of the most important priorities of the organization's development policies that still face a problem between spending on the health sector and ensuring access to health services.



Al-Hajri noted that ISESCO, in collaboration with the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" since 2015, has adopted the "Medical, Educational and Socio-cultural Caravan" program directed to remote areas that lack healthcare opportunities, through caring for maternal and child health, providing medical devices and equipment, lectures on awareness-raising, and the distribution of resources to schools as well as maintenance facilities.



During its working days from 14 to 19 December 2019, ISESCO provided free medical consultations for the residents of Al-Joufah in gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, ENT, and other specialties.  It carried out maintenance work for three schools: Al-Joufah Secondary Comprehensive School for Boys, Al-Joufah Comprehensive Secondary School for Girls, and Al-Joufah Elementary Mixed School, and equipped them with air-conditioning and  special headphones for school broadcast, and donated basic materials to school education in addition to distributing winter clothes to all schoolchildren in the surrounding neighborhoods.



The Caravan was participated by the Jordanian Ministry of Health, the National Committee, the University of Jordan (the National Program to link industry with academia - the FFF program), and the Directorate of Education and the Southern Shouneh District Administration.



During their visit to the region, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" team participated in the supervision and field participation in the project activities to ensure the progress of work in accordance with the highest levels of quality. Also they participated in the distribution of 15 wheelchairs to persons with reduced mobility, including children and adults.

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, launches #Albyout_Asrar child abuse awareness campaign during the Holy month of Ramadan.

Although child abuse is considered one of the most critical issues in today’s society, only 10% of the cases are reported while 90% remain wrapped in a child’s sense of shame or fear of being subjected to punishment from the perpetrator.

Much could be done at societal level to prevent child abuse and neglect including shedding light on children’s rights, protects their dignity and ensures their natural growth socially, psychologically and physically. Furthermore, several international conventions and agreements are placed to ensure that children’s rights are protected. The Human Rights Convention defines child abuse as “any act or neglect that subjects a child’s life, safety, integrity, and health from a physical, sexual, mental, and psychological aspect to risk.”

Child abuse is a global problem that is deeply rooted in cultural, economic and social practices. In Saudi Arabia, 65% of the child abuse cases reported to hospitals include physical injuries such as bruises, welts, burns, scalds, lacerations and fractures. Young children are most at risk of physical abuse. The highest rates of child abuse are found in children under two years of age.&nbsp; Based on World Health Organization Research, child maltreatment is more likely in communities with high rates of poverty. Available data also suggests that in about 55% of the cases, the perpetrator is the father, whereas in 45% of the cases the mother is the perpetrator.

In the United States, two to four million children are subjected to abuse and thousands are killed by their own parents, while dozens are annually placed in foster homes seeking a way out of the abusive cycle. In the United Kingdom, a recent report released by the Ministry of Interior Affairs, states that four children are killed per week by their parents and 200 children die every year because of abusive crimes.

Alwaleed Philanthropies aims to stimulate community action through launching #Albyout_Asrar campaign to raise awareness, and prevent child abuse and neglect in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, and The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the phases and programme related to implementing the joint initiative to help 10 countries address the adverse repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative entails humanitarian aid to the needy categories, capacity-building in the production of sanitizers and protective equipment to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic, and support to the private sector and women and youth entrepreneurs.



Following the signature of the MoU during the virtual ceremony held on Tuesday, H.R.H. Princess Lamia Bint Majed Saud AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", said “we are proud of our partnership with ICESCO marked by many years of humanitarian initiatives to meet the urgent and long-term needs of the neediest categories around the globe. This initiative will empower women and young entrepreneurs by making them assume the principal role in the fight against Coronavirus”.



For his part, Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, ICESCO Director General, expressed the honor of ICESCO to collaborate with Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" in support the most vulnerable and marginalized people in Africa and across the Islamic world.

The MoU stipulates that Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", over a period of one year, provide 2,090,000 US dollars in aid to contribute to the efforts of addressing the repercussions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in Niger, Senegal, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Nigeria, the Sudan, Mauritania, and Cote d’Ivoire.



The initiative seeks to provide food assistance to the neediest populations and most affected by the pandemic, most notably centers of elderly care, people with disabilities, and women victim of violence, orphanages, refugee centers and patients in health centers and hospitals. It also aims to build local capacities in the production of sanitizers and protective equipment (gels, protective masks, ventilators) through prioritizing and empowering men and women entrepreneurs in local informal sectors.



The two parties agreed to set up an implementation schedule to be attached to the MoU and a code of conduct for media outreach specific to the partnership. In this regard, the MoU stipulates that ICESCO prepare a quarterly report about the implementation of the project in each of the target countries and a detailed one at the end of the implementation, on the most important innovative initiatives with photos of production units and recorded testimonials of some beneficiary citizens.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Down syndrome is the main center under the supervision of The Right to Live Society in Palestine, offering rehabilitation services for children of Down syndrome. The center aims to merge children with Down syndrome with the local society and to increase community awareness towards them.

The combined cost for the housing project was EGP 2 billion, of which EGP 850,000,000 was contributed by Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global".&nbsp;

In addition, Prince Alwaleed contributed 10,000 Acres of land in Toshka, a EGP 700,000,000 investment, as a gift to improve the living conditions of many Egyptian Citizens. The combined contribution of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and Prince Alwaleed was EGP 1.5 billion.

Moreover, Prince Alwaleed met with the President of Egypt, His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on November 25th, 2015 to finalize all the arrangements related to the two projects. Accordingly, Ms. Abir Kaki Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" met with Dr. Ali Jomaa, the Former Mufti of Egypt, on behalf of the Misr El Kheir Foundation on Thursday December 17th, 2015 to sign the partnership of granting 10,000 housing units to Egyptian Citizens.

Also attending the meeting was Ms. Nauf Al Rawaf, Community Development Projects Executive Manager and HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Alsaud, Executive Manager of Media &amp; Communication of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", along with Egypt’s Ministers of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Local Development, and Social Welfare to initiate this historic project.

&nbsp;

The endeavor consists of constructing 10,000 low-cost housing units. An estimated 1,000 units will be distributed each year to the areas with the highest need over the next 10 years within Egypt. These units will be granted by &nbsp;the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" to families most in need based upon objective procedures, as well as 10,000 acres in Toshka, to be at the disposal of the Government of Egypt to benefit from them as it deems appropriate to the Egyptian society. The units will be allocated in all Egyptian governorates except Cairo, North Sena and South Sena. The Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and the Misr El Kheir Foundation will soon launch a media campaign that will cover all areas of Egypt to announce the start date and procedures for those who are eligible to apply for the housing units.

This is a unique partnership between leading national &amp; charitable foundations in the Arab region and reflects the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"’ primary focus on community development, specifically to fund, implement, and manage philanthropic projects to develop Arab societies.

The Council of Ministers in Egypt will manage and coordinate the assigned work between individual ministries and related public entities, such as the General Commissions, which are involved in executing the project. Among their responsibilities will be the task of ensuring that appropriate legal and regulatory structures exist related to the administration of the project. A representative chosen by the Council shall be given the full capacity to execute the responsibilities mentioned in the protocol, according to the scheduled time-frame and detailed work plan.

The Misr El Kheir Foundation will handle the technical administration, community and finance management for the project. The first stage will consist of reviewing and adopting design, strategic, and technical specifications, along with quantitative standards for the project. Subsequently, the initiation of project bidding procedures by qualified contractors will begin, based on the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"’ specific policies. Another duty of the Misr El Kheir Foundation is to lead the project’s Executive Committee. A representative of the Misr El Kheir Foundation will be appointed President of the project's Executive Committee with the responsibility of ensuring that protocols are met.

The previous initiative, in 2014, consisted of paying the debts for 1,000 men and women in Egyptian prisons to enable their release during the holy month of Ramadan. Lighting Up Lives has resulted in literally bringing light into people’s lives in Saudi Arabia’s most remote locations – 400 villages, benefiting over 42, 343&nbsp; households and over 210,000 people.

The Foundation achieved this by installing power generators that have a 10-year life span where thousands of villagers have benefited from the project.

These villages are not covered by the power grid, but the program is listed to be connected with the grid during the life time of the generators. Lighting Up Lives exemplifies one of the basic tenets of Alwaleed Philanthropies: We offer help where it is needed desperately.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the global philanthropic foundation, received recognition at the 50th World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos for its commitment to eradicating preventable diseases. The award was presented following Gavi’s annual public-private partnership breakfast on the sidelines of the WEF and comes as Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" marks its 40th anniversary.

 

The award was received by HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Saud Al Saud, General Secretary of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" who also spoke at Gavi’s annual public-private partnership  breakfast on the organisation’s commitment to ensure that every child is immunized with basic life-saving vaccines no matter where they live in the world.

 

Last year Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" made a fresh commitment to preventing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases by investing a further US $5 million in its partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. The commitment will provide extra funding between 2020 and 2024 to support organisations identified by Gavi as ‘pacesetters’ that are developing new innovations to improve vaccine access and delivery, particularly in urban areas. The foundation is providing the funding through Gavi’s INFUSE initiative (Innovation for Uptake, Scale and Equity in Immunisation), which identifies these ‘pacesetters’, provides funding and support for them, and connects them to authorities in countries that need vaccination support.

 

By 2050 nearly 70% of the world’s population will live in urban settings. The rapid growth will add nearly 2.5 billion people to urban areas, with 90% of the expansion occurring in Asia and Africa. These large, highly populated urban settings with mobile, transient and under-immunised populations lend themselves to an increased risk of disease transmission and outbreaks.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, November 20, 2019 – His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal AlSaud, Chairman of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", joined Bill Gates and leading figures from the international community to announce the first round of funding to a major global initiative to end polio. The commitment was made at the Reaching the Last Mile forum in Abu Dhabi, hosted by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.



The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) ‘Endgame Strategy 2019-2023’ aims to tackle the final obstacles to the eradication of polio and sustain a polio-free future. Bill Gates, representing the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is one of the leading partners of the GPEI, announced and recognised the first funders of the strategy and called for more donors to come forward in a key pledge moment for the organisation.



Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"’ donation of US $2 million to GPEI will support the creation of action plans to expand access to polio vaccination and help reach children everywhere. The support was recognised during the Polio Pledge Moment at today’s forum, which brought together all the partner organisations and issued a call to action for others to join.



The donation from Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" is the latest in a long line of strategic and co-ordinated donations to disease eradication, and its second to support the GPEI following a donation of $30 million in 2013. In addition to supporting GPEI, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" has worked with key partners such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Carter Center and UNICEF to tackle Guinea Worm disease, river blindness, measles and rubella, amongst other preventable and treatable diseases.



Afterwards, HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal met with Bill Gates, with whom he has a long and productive relationship, to discuss the remaining challenges in global infectious disease eradication.



Commenting on today’s pledge and the meeting he said: “Today we have marked an important step in the last push towards a polio free world. Since 1988 an estimated 18 million people are walking today who otherwise would have been paralyzed due to this disease. Donations deliver change, and collaborative efforts deliver it faster and with deeper impact. That’s why I am here today with these renowned partners, calling on others to join us in this last battle to end Polio for good.”



The GPEI pledging event launched a fundraising push to fill the $3.27 billion funding gap remaining in the 2019-2023 Endgame Strategy. So far, $2.6 billion has been raised. The funding will help deliver a programme of activity that will continue to protect children and secure progress towards a Polio-free world, as well as help to ensure that the workers and infrastructure developed by the program can support other health needs and development priorities.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" joins the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and partners with new commitment to eradicate polio

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, has invested $1 million to help complete the eradication of Guinea worm, a neglected tropical disease that remains only in remote poor rural villages in a few African countries.



Launched today in New York, The Carter Center Challenge Fund for Guinea Worm Eradication aims to secure $40 million to help eradicate the disease. The Carter Center Challenge Fund will match, dollar for dollar, donations to the Guinea Worm Eradication Program, up to $10 million per year in 2019 and 2020, for a total of $20 million. Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"’ is the first donation from an international organization.



This latest investment means that over the past five years Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" has donated more than $60 million to help eliminate diseases and improve access to vaccines through partnerships with The Carter Center, Gavi, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, the World Health Organization, the World Bank and the END fund.



Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" collaborates with The Carter Center on several health programs, including the elimination of river blindness and treating and preventing advanced-stage trachoma, both leading causes of infectious blindness worldwide.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" joins global Carter Center campaign to end the spread of Guinea worm disease

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, announced lighting up the iconic Kingdom Tower in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in blue on April 2nd 2016 to support the 8th annual World Autism Awareness Day. This was done as part of Autism Speaks’ Light It Up Blue (LIUB) initiative, which was launched in 2010 with the goal of bringing the world’s attention to this developmental disability. Every year more than 13,000 buildings and landmarks in over 45 countries shine a blue light to raise awareness of the millions of people affected by autism.

World Autism Awareness Day, observed on the 2nd of April every year, was adopted by the United Nations in 2007 and marks the start of Autism Awareness Month, a global effort to highlight the impact of this condition on millions of people around the world.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" Announces that Kingdom Tower Lights up In Blue to Support Autism Day 

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" has partnered with The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) that supports the project of “Improving Livelihoods for Rural Women of Forest Guinea” in West Africa.

The project aims to improve food security in target areas of the Forest Guinea Region through the provision of quality seeds and training in modern farming techniques.

It has also worked on increasing households’ income in target areas by promoting agricultural products processing, conservation and related income generating activities. Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" has also supported the reduction of water borne disease incidence in target areas through improved access to safe drinking water.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud have signed a cooperation protocol with Misr El Kheir Foundation. The agreement marks the sixth phase of the Sutra project, which includes the restoration and roofing of 1,000 homes for eligible families in various governorates in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, with funding from Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global". The Sutra project aims to provide 10,000 housing units for vulnerable Egyptian families by 2025.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of officials, including Dr. Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Misr Al-Khair Foundation; HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"; Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity; Major General Dr. Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development; and Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, representing Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities.
Engineer Ahmed Ali, Executive Director of Programs at Misr El Kheir Foundation, commented: “The sixth phase of the Sutra project will result in at least 1,000 new homes across ten governorates in Egypt with the aim of improving the housing environment for the most deserving families. Additionally, the project also provides various job opportunities and seasonal income for thousands of people in the select governorates.” 

Engineer Ahmed Ali added that the Foundation has worked in most of the governorates of Egypt during the past five phases and has successfully developed over 5,000 homes, whether by complete construction or restoration, re-roofing and complete finishing. The renovations were carried out in more than 350 villages located in 120 administrative centers across the country. During this period, services have been provided to improve the housing environment for more than 25,000 and has created over 500,000 jobs for seasonal employment opportunities. The Sutra project aims to provide approximately 220,000 job opportunities annually to help reduce unemployment rates in Egypt.

Engineer Amal Mobadda, Fundraising Director at Misr El Kheir Foundation, said: “We have had a fruitful partnership with Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" for the past five years, working together to implement the Sutra project. Today, we are pleased to start executing the 6th phase, which will largely focus on the needs of people living in the governorates of Upper Egypt. A large part of the project was implemented in the governorates of Beni Suef, Minya, Fayoum, Sohag and Qena, in addition to the rest of the governorates covered by the project.”

The Sutra project was launched in 2015, receiving its funding from Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global". With participation from several ministries, including the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ministry of Local Development, and the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities.  The project aims to improve the housing environment for 10,000 of the most deserving Egyptian families across a 10-year period with 1,000 homes distributed annually across the governorates of Egypt, except for Cairo, North Sinai, and South Sinai.  The housing units are designed to meet the basic need of targeted families; ranging from 50-60 square meters per unit. 

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and Misr El Kheir Foundation Launch Phase 6 of the Sutra project; providing 10,000 housing units to vulnerable Egyptian families

In the final blessed days of Ramadan, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, provided 617 residential units for Saudi citizens in need to increase the number of beneficiaries of the Housing Initiative to 7,782 citizens.

The initiative was in response to the call of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud and the Crown Prince HRH Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, to provide&nbsp; adequate housing for citizens in need.

Alwaleed Philanthropies is one of the first pioneers in providing residential units for eligible citizens. The Foundation reviews and assesses cases to ensure priority is given to citizens in dire need to provide them with the means that will ensure a dignified life.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Provides Residential Units for 7,782 Saudi Citizens

Chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" partnered with AMAR International Charitable Foundation, a charitable Foundation based in England and Wales, in a project for the recovery and operation of two primary healthcare clinics in Iraq.


Alwaleed Philanthropies and AMAR are cooperating in a project that aims to deliver heath care to distressed populations and the internally displaced persons (IDP) in Iraq by the refurbishment of primary health care clinics in two IDP camps. 


The project entails responsibility for managing the clinics, providing medical services, and delivering primary health care to the patients residing in the camps; as well as to upgrade the clinic equipment, and mobilize women health volunteers. 


HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies indicted “it is a primary objective for Alwaleed Philanthropies to help and support internally displaced individuals especially in the health care arena. IDP individuals tend to experience worse health outcomes than other conflict-affected populations across a range of health issues; some of which include reduced access to health services. This partnership will further develop the health facilities in the camps and ensure better health outcomes for these individuals.”

Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” partner with AMAR International Charitable Foundation in a project for the recovery and operation of primary healthcare clinics in Iraq.

As part of the World Scouting annual [JOTA-JOTI](https://www.jotajoti.info/) (Jamboree-on-the-Air-Jamboree-on-the-Internet), the world’s largest online Scout event which connects Scouts from over 170 countries over 3 days from 20-22 October, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, hosted an event in partnership with the World Scout Movement to raise awareness about the impact of deforestation and to inspire young people to become active actors in forest degradation and engage global citizens.

In an effort to conserve the world’s natural forests, Alwaleed Philanthropies are hosting the virtual event on their metaverse platform, Decentraland. Scouts around the world, as well as the general public, have been invited to navigate through a virtual forest, gain insight into the consequences of deforestation, and participate in the inaugural forest plantation event on the Metaverse. The Decentraland platform has already gained 26,500 scouts and planted 610 trees within the first three days. The count is still increasing as the platform is open to the general public for the next coming weeks.

As an expression of his gratitude to the Saudi nation and its people, HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud announced the resumption of the two Alwaleed Philanthropic projects that consist of providing 10,000 housing units to Saudi citizens, which is part of his development housing initiative, in addition to granting Saudis 10,000 cars, thereby, bringing the total number of beneficiaries among Saudi men and women to 100,000 in 10 years.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Grants 10,000 Housing Units &10,000 Cars to Saudi Citizens

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), along with Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, with HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, commemorated today four years of collaboration that resulted in further advancing the discussion on sustainable urbanization regionally and the successful resource mobilization and support to a number of projects.


The commemoration took place during the second session of the UN Habitat Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, where HRH participated in a Side Event tackling peace, development and humanitarian action in Yemen. She also engaged in a number of bilateral meetings, discussing future areas of cooperation.

**October 2020, Riyadh**: HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, joined the Global Observance of the World Habitat Day, organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) on October 4th-6th, 2020. The event, themed ‘Housing for All: A Better Urban Future’, was hosted by the city of Surbaya, Indonesia and focused on the importance of providing housing to vulnerable communities most severely affected by the pandemic crisis around the world.

Globally, 1 billion people are estimated to be living in slums, informal settlements, and in inadequate housing, and 2.4 billion people lack adequate access to safe water and sanitation. With the support of UN-Habitat and partners, concerted efforts are underway to support local governments, provide community driven solutions and offer adequate homes and shelters in these areas, but more needs to be done.”

HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud addresses urban sustainability challenges on World Habitat Day

Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, announces the list of beneficiaries of the 11th installment of the "Housing and Car Grants" program. The program aims to provide 10,000 housing units and 10,000 cars to Saudi citizens throughout the Kingdom over 10 years. So far, Alwaleed Philanthropies has provided 22,818 beneficiaries with houses and cars as part of its "Housing and Car Grants" program. The number of beneficiaries from the housing and cars programs reached 22,818, respectively.



The foundation seeks to improve the living standards of Saudi citizens through various community development programs. The "Housing and Car Grants" program is one of the most important local programs, as it supports Saudi families with low incomes by helping them reduce their monthly expenses that go towards housing rents and transportation. The beneficiaries have to meet specific criteria set by the Alwaleed Philanthropies and which are available on the foundation’s official website: https://www.alwaleedphilanthropies.org



The foundation aims to empower all those in need, especially those with few resources. The beneficiaries of the 11th installment of the "Housing and Car Grants" program included a large number of people with special needs, because the foundation believes in enabling them to become more self-reliant, as well as better integrated in their communities.

Alwaleed Philanthropies has distributed the cars to the beneficiaries at the headquarters of Aljazirah Vehicles Agencies in Riyadh. The cars were distributed by Ms. Amal Al Kathiri, Executive Director of the National Initiatives Department. Mrs. Najla Aljeaid, Assistant Manger of the National Initiatives Department. Ms. Reem Abukhayal, Assistant Manager of Public Relations and Media Department. Present from Aljazirah Vehicles Agencies as a representative, was Mr. Abdullah Alobthani, Director of the Government Sales Department in the Kingdom.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Announces the 11th Installment for the Beneficiaries of "Housing and Car Grants" Program

Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global,” chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, has announced its strategic partnership with the Ejada program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming education for vulnerable children in Jordan. In operation since 2019, the Ejada program is led by Save the Children and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL). It is implemented in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, and in partnership with Community Jameel and Dubai Cares. Eajda program, which Alwaleed Philanthropies joined in 2023, is designed to address the challenges posed by an overburdened education system due to the protracted refugee crisis in Jordan.

 Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” Announces Strategic Partnership with Save the Children to Bolster the Ejada Program in Jordan

Through the support of Alwaleed Philanthropies’ “Global,” chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, International Medical Corps has effectively launched critical initiatives in Syria and Turkey to aid refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable communities.

This initiative facilitates the rehabilitation of Al Raml Primary Healthcare Center in Tartous, Syria, to procure and deliver essential medical equipment and supplies, and to provide training to 25 healthcare professionals at the center—improvements that strengthened Al Raml’s position as a crucial healthcare provider in the region and enabled it to serve 40,295 people throughout the duration of the project. This support has been essential in bolstering the local health department's capacity to maintain treatment and address urgent healthcare needs.

In addition, the initiative has enabled International Medical Corps to provide physical therapy and rehabilitation services in the Altinozu and Yayldagi districts of Hatay, Turkey, to 2,692 people living with injuries or disabilities, enhancing their psychological well-being and daily functioning, and reducing the severity of their mental health conditions and psychological distress. It also has improved the accessibility and awareness of mental health and psychosocial support services for those with diverse needs, as well as coordination of and referrals to those services.

This collaborative effort highlights the significance of international and local partnerships in addressing urgent healthcare needs, in enhancing community well-being through comprehensive medical interventions and in strengthening health system capacities. With the support of Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global,” International Medical Corps has been able to successfully expand such partnerships to reach more affected people and communities, particularly in underserved or difficult-to-access areas.

Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” and International Medical Corps Collaborate to Support Thousands of People in Syria and Türkiye

**The Adequate Housing Project is the fruit of the tripartite partnership between "SDRPY" Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global”, and "UN-Habitat."**


The Adequate Housing Project was concluded today as a result of a tripartite partnership between the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global”, and UN-HABITAT, aimed at enhancing the living conditions of families in the Aden Governorate. 

A ceremony was held at SDRPY’s headquarters in Riyadh to commemorate the occasion, attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia bint Majed AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies; Dr. Waed Badeeb, the Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation; H.E. Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber, SDRPY’s General Supervisor; His Excellency Eng. Salem Al-Harizi, Minister of Public Works and Roads in Yemen; Ms. Rania Hedeya,  the UN-Habitat Region Representative for the Regional Office of Arab States; and Dr. Erfan Ali, Chief of Staff at UN-Habitat. 

This project, the first of its kind in Yemen's housing sector, aimed to provide safe living conditions for families by rehabilitating damaged homes in the Mualla and Khormaksar districts of the Aden Governorate. A total of 650 houses were rehabilitated through this project, including structural repairs, resulting in a better future for more than 4,500 Yemenis.
 
Moreover, the Adequate Housing Project has contributed to job creation and the development of skills in housing, construction, and building through training workshops, thereby enhancing the impact of this project on promoting community stability and sustainable development.

UN-Habitat Tunisia hosted an official delegation from Alwaleed Philanthropies to Tunisia from September 23 to 26, 2024. The visit, led by representatives from Alwaleed Philanthropies, concluded the waste management project in Sousse and Beni Khalled, implemented between 2023 and 2024 and in partnership with Alwaleed Philanthropies Global. 

This collaborative initiative between UN-Habitat Tunisia and Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” seeks to support the governorates of Sousse and Nabeul to improve their solid waste systems. This momentous event coincided with International Women's Day, which added an extra layer of significance as we highlighted the impactful role of women in the social entrepreneurship field.

On this special day, Dr. Iman Bibars was present and also, Vice-President of Ashoka Global and Regional Director of Ashoka Arab World and Alwaleed Philanthropies team were all present to celebrate the graduation ceremony.

In alignment with this occasion, the event focused on the exceptional contributions of women participants who have demonstrated outstanding ambition, dedication and resilience in the realm of social entrepreneurship, as well as the learnings from inspirational women who have trained and mentored the participants, those who have had a significant impact in the program conception, management and deployment, with a special mention for women in high level positions and government bodies whose work continuously help frame the entrepreneurial landscape in Morocco.  These women embody the spirit of empowerment and social innovation values.

The Closing Ceremony marked the conclusion of a comprehensive program, deployed in the Fez-Meknes region, that has empowered 15 participants to drive positive change through social entrepreneurship. 


Alwaleed Philanthropies and Ashoka Arab World celebrate the graduates and winners of the Innovation Factory program in Morocco

In accordance with the ongoing efforts of Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al-Saud, to advance women's legal empowerment, and in continuation of “Waeya” initiative in partnership with Faisal Al-Taye Law firm, a signing ceremony was held to mark the launch of the eighth phase of the initiative. This phase is dedicated to the training and empowerment of both male and female legal professionals, providing case consultations, with the overarching goal of promoting legal culture, awareness, and women's empowerment in legal domains.

The "Waeya" initiative has outlined several key objectives to advance its mission. These objectives include establishing foundations for legal education for women to enhance legal awareness and knowledge within society, training female lawyers, addressing issues related to women, violence, and cybercrimes, and assisting women in improving their quality of life by raising awareness of rights and responsibilities. The initiative focuses on:
Firstly, establishing a legal support network for women, especially those who have faced challenges of domestic violence or cybercrimes, through legal assistance and consultations.
Secondly, working on the implementation of the "Waeya" App as a consultative and informative portal for women to easily access their legal rights.
Thirdly, "Waeya" Phase 8 is distinguished by innovative practical legal programs, including legal clinics, where consultation and judicial practice take place within an educational setting, equipping university students with legal experience and skills.
Fourthly, through a fruitful partnership with the Ministry of Health, efforts will be made to ensure the provision of legal support for women in healthcare settings, raising awareness to safeguard their rights and ensure their safety.
Fifthly, a renewed dedication is evident in the effort to spread awareness programs embracing topics related to women's and children's rights across various regions of the Kingdom, aiming to universalize benefits and enhance knowledge through field visits to remote villages. These visits aim to elevate legal awareness among the residents of these areas, disseminate the necessary knowledge to women, and raise awareness about their rights in addressing domestic violence, harassment, and cybercrimes. Additionally, free legal consultations will be provided, encouraging women to seek legal assistance when needed.

 “Waeya” initiative Launches the Eighth Phase to enhance legal awareness and empower women legally.

Six months after launching the “Innovation Factory” Program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is one of the main activities under their partnership agreement, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, and Ashoka Arab World celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of social entrepreneurs by hosting the Closing Ceremony for the Social Entrepreneurship Capacity Building Program “The Innovation Factory”.  
The ceremony marked the conclusion of this comprehensive program that has empowered 14 Saudi youth from Riyadh, 12 of them are women, to drive positive change through social entrepreneurship.  From an ideation hackathon to curate innovative solutions to their communities’ most persistent social problems and through a series of online and in-person training and mentoring bootcamps, the program has nurtured the skills and vision of an ambitious cohort of Saudi youth dedicated to making a long-lasting impact on their local communities by means of their social ventures.    The program was conducted by Al Mashtal Community House & Creative Incubator, the implementing partner.  

The culmination of the transformative journey for this cohort has unfolded on June 2nd, 2024, as Alwaleed Philanthropies and Ashoka Arab World celebrated the successful completion of the program and announced the winners of the financial awards granted to the best social ventures.

This special occasion was honored with the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia Bint Majed AlSaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, Princess Nora Bint Naief Alsaud, Founder of Al Mashtal Community House & Creative Incubator, and Dr. Iman Bibars, Vice-President of Ashoka Global and Regional Director of Ashoka Arab World.

The event casted a bright spotlight on the exceptional contributions of the 14 Saudi young social entrepreneurs who have demonstrated outstanding ambition, commitment, and eagerness to positively impact their local communities, as well as the dedication of the mentors and trainers who have accompanied them in this journey of learning, the significant contributions of the project team members in program conception, management, and deployment deserve recognition. Special mention goes to the inspirational Saudi women in high-level positions whose work has been particularly impactful.

The event held in Riyadh gathered around 70 representatives in Saudi Arabia: government officials, diplomatic missions, incubator representatives, CSOs members, and journalists. It presented a mixture of keynotes by the program partners, and the announcement of 9 outstanding pre-incubated projects that were selected by a jury of distinguished experts in the field of social entrepreneurship, in the competition held at the end of the training program. The 9 winners are granted financial awards and incubation services for the coming 6 months to help them scale up their ventures and expand their social impact.


Alwaleed Philanthropies & Ashoka Arab World celebrate the graduates of the Innovation Factory program and the winners of the financial awards 

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, launched the Advanced Study Program for the Wood Badge for Scout Unit Leaders in partnership with the World Scout Organization. This program, organized by Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, lasted for five days as part of the project to train female scout leaders in Saudi universities.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Ali bin Tared Al-Dosari, stated that the program is a realization of the agreement between the university and Alwaleed Philanthropies, exemplifying true collaboration between the university and various sectors. He emphasized the university's commitment to the importance of scouting and its significant role in the community, as well as the activation of the role of female scouts by enhancing multiple aspects for the trainees. This is done in accordance with the strategies set by Alwaleed Philanthropies and the university's Deanship of Student Affairs. He highlighted the role of female scouts in promoting the values of citizenship in the community in line with Saudi Vision 2030 by refining talents and skills, acquiring behavioral values and traits through adherence to scouting promises and laws, and unlocking human potential in all fields to achieve sustainable development goals. This aligns with the kingdom's vision of instilling volunteerism in all individuals.
The Executive Director of National Initiatives at Alwaleed Philanthropies, Eng. Najla Al-Juaid, stated that this project with the scouting movement and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University aims to encourage the participation of women and youth in volunteer work to support their involvement in scouting both locally and internationally. Al-Juaid emphasized their commitment through this project to provide training programs and workshops aimed at developing leadership and social skills among young people. She highlighted their belief that empowering women and youth will enhance their role in community development and contribute to achieving Saudi Vision 2030.


Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University Launches Advanced Scout Leader Program

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and Alwaleed Philanthropies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the support of crafts and craftspeople in every field, encouraging volunteering and the preservation of cultural identity.

The MoU was signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary-General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority.

The two organizations will work together to provide training for craftspeople and support for local products and creators. The collaboration was born from a mutual understanding of the importance of working together in ways that will help both parties accomplish their objectives.

HRH Princess Lamia commented by saying that the cooperation further solidifies the importance of preserving heritage and cultural identity, and that the two organizations would work together on a series of initiatives and events to build capabilities in the arts and culture domain, in addition to coordinating on media coverage and marketing initiatives. Her Royal Highness also expressed her pride in collaborating with DGDA to preserve the heritage and serve the local community based on the keenness of Alwaleed Philanthropies through its comprehensive programs to contribute to supporting the social work system and serving Saudi citizens.

Mr. Inzerillo further highlighted the MoU’s significance in the support of volunteering and social services, pointing out that both entities are set to cooperate on a range of initiatives such as youth empowerment in volunteerism and community service together and other areas of common interest.

He added that the cooperation is aligned with DGDA’s strategies and ambitious goals to serve local development, preserve the cultural heritage of Diriyah while showcasing the authenticity of its civilizational heritage and deepen the social development impact by helping the local community through the infrastructure, services, and facilities the Authority is creating as part of the Diriyah Gate projcet.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" Supports Riyadh Chamber of Commerce Public Relations & Media Program

Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, delivered the first installment of the 100 vehicles pledge to Careem as part of its efforts to support and empower Saudi women to work as Captainahs in Careem platform in Saudi society.

Alwaleed Philanthropies has distributed the cars to the Captainahs at the headquarters of Aljazirah Vehicles Agencies in Riyadh, by HRH Princess Lamia AlSaud, the Alwaleed Philanthropies Secretary-General, Mrs. Salha Al Zalai, Assistant Manager of the National Initiatives Department, Ms. Reem Abukhayal, Assistant Manager of Public Relations and Media Department. The Careem representatives were Dr. Abdullah Elyas, Co-founder &amp; CPO at Careem, Mr. Iyad Aldalooj, General Manager &amp; Country Marketing Director. And from Aljazirah Vehicles Agencies representative, Mr. Abdullah Alobthani, Director of the Government Sales Department

Alwaleed Philanthropies and Careem Company acted pursuant to the Royal Order empowering women to work as their custodians within the legal and regulatory disciplines in order to contribute to the economic development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project aims to develop and invest in women's talents and to enable them to obtain suitable opportunities to contribute to the development of society and the economy, and to increase their participation in the labor force from 22% to 30%, as well as to contribute to reducing the financial burden on the Saudi family for the recruitment of drivers.

Careem’s Captainahs started working on the platform on June 24, with more than 2,000 women having registered wishing to work on the leading platform, especially in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Careem aims to add 20,000 Captainahs to the platform by 2020.

The registered Captainahs will be trained intensively on the platform for intensive training in a specialized training center for them.&nbsp;

Alwaleed Philanthropies Delivers the First Installment of the 100 Cars for Careem’s Captainahs

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, received a women’s delegation of the Association of Wives of Permanent Heads of Diplomatic Missions ‘WHOM’ on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at their headquarters in Riyadh. The delegation’s visit was intended in an effort to gain a better understanding of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"’ work in women empowerment both on a local and international scale.&nbsp;

The delegation of ‘WHOM’, which is headed by Mrs. Sayeada Gul-e-Arzoo, wife of the Ambassador to Bangladesh, consisted of &nbsp;31delegates from the following diplomatic missions: Bahrain, Iraq, Mali, Gambia, Zambia, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Sudan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Japan, Malaysia, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, France, Germany, Finland, Greece, Denmark, Czech Republic, Norway, Switzerland, Ireland, the U.S., Canada, and Australia, as well as representatives from World Bank and FAO.&nbsp;

HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Alsaud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and Member of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Amal Al Kathiri, Executive Manager of National Initiatives, and Ms. Nauf Al-Rawaf Executive Manager of Global Initiatives received the delegation. &nbsp;From the Media &amp; Communication Department, Ms. Sara Balghonaim and Ms. Shahad Al Mufti presented an overview of the foundation’s work as well as AP’s efforts in changing the role of Saudi women both in society, and in the workforce. Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" Receives Delegation of Wives of Heads of Diplomatic Missions

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, has launched a series of training programs in cooperation with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) to promote legal awareness and strengthen the protection of rights for women and youth in Saudi Arabia. The programs are expected to support over 12,900 beneficiaries.

The launch was marked by a virtual opening ceremony, attended by HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Saud Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, President of the Human Rights Commission. 

The training programs, targeting female lawyers, will take place over the course of 6 months and consist of 8 courses. The expert-led training will provide a deep understanding of themes pertaining to human rights, and acquaint students with local and international human rights standards; familiarize them with legal consultation practices; and provide support for cases related to domestic violence against women and children. 

The newly launched programs align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, in supporting human capital development by enhancing the local workforce to better serve all segments of society. 

HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Saud Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", said: “At Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", we strongly believe in the importance of empowering and supporting women in all sectors. Previously, the legal field in the Arab world, and particularly in Saudi Arabia, was restricted to men. Although we have made significant progress, there is still a need to ensure that women have a voice in the legal sector, as members of the public, lawyers and judges.” 

Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, President of the Human Rights Commission, said: “The Human Rights Commission is keen to cooperate with national, regional and international institutions working to enhance and progress efforts to protect human rights. The commission aims, through such programs, to integrate an international human rights perspective in the approach of local specialists working to build upon the regional advancement of human rights and the development of localized capacity to support individuals and institutions.”

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" supports the enhancement of human rights and social justice infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and across the world. Earlier this year, the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU) joined the School of Foreign Services at Georgetown University’s Global Anti-Racism Initiative, to provide scholarships for students studying interfaith relations. Through these scholarships and a visiting lecture series, ACMCU aims to further understanding of the impact of systematic racism, ultimately contributing to its reversal.

Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and the Human Rights Commission launch a series of programs to raise legal awareness and strengthen the protection of rights for women and youth in Saudi Arabia

With the support of the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", Chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, and in cooperation with the King Fahad Charitable Women’s Society in Jizan, 97 Nursery students graduated from the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" in Jizan on Wednesday 14th May 2014.

This project began in 2012, it was fully furnished and equipped with state of the art educational material.&nbsp; The project included classes for toddlers, infants and kindergarten students. One of the main initiatives of the project was creating jobs and opportunities for young ladies of the community. During phase one of the project, 20 Female staff were employed at the nursery. The nursery in parallel served one of the Foundations’ initiatives, *A’id, which is dedicated to Vocational Training, Employment and Woman Enablement directed by Mrs. Nora Al Malki – Executive Manager of Development Projects.

The King Fahad Charitable Women’s Society was established in 1403h and it aims to offer an array of different social services to the local community on a regular basis. The Organization achieves its goals and initiatives through different specialized committees set up to maintain and follow the social changes that are ongoing in the area, and investing in the community to create more opportunities for women.

This partnership and support from the Foundation enables the King Fahad Charitable Womens Society to offer different services such as symposiums, short training courses and exhibitions. The Nursery project was the first collaboration in this strategic partnership between the King Fahad Charitable Women’s Society and the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global", of which the primary aim of the partnership is to create more opportunities and jobs for women in the community.

Ms. Nuha Al Khouli, the Director of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Nursery gave an opening speech to the graduation class, and the assistant Director Mr. Rihab Muslim, along with the Director of the King Fahad Women’s Charity Ms. Muna Ruzaik were all in attendance.

First Class of Toddlers Graduate from Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global"' Nursery, Jizan

Alwaleed Philanthropies that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, participated in the “Hawiya 2” (identity 2) event through the Seleslah Center for Arts and Heritage that was organized by Al- Faisalya Women’s Welfare Society led by HRH Princess Fahda Bint Saud Bin Abdul Aziz on Saturday 11th of May in Park Hyatt, Jeddah.

The event was held under the patronage of HRH Princess Mashael Bint Abdulaziz Al Saud and was attended by women leaders and professionals. The event aims to empower Saudi women at the Seleslah Center economically, develop and market their products locally and globally. It also aims to promote Saudi heritage and culture and support orphans whom sponsored by Al-Faisalya Society. The event also included a charity auction in which a gown, designed by the women in Sleslah Center, was sold for the benefit of The Orphans’ Center at Princess Hessah Bint Khalid Center for Social Development.

Princess Fahda Bint Saud commended that “Hawiya” is of great significance because of its role in connecting the new generation of young Saudi women with their authentic heritage. She added that this year’s products line consisted of long hours of production and efforts in detailed designing.

This year’s event included the launch and expansion of the new center “Hawiya” which specializes in designing and producing apparel and jewelry in partnership with a number of local designers and artists. Seleslah Center is considered as one of the most important projects of creative handicrafts (Taseel) as part of Alwaleed Philanthropies’ Women’s Empowerment Initiative (Hama) which&nbsp; is overseeing implementation of Mrs. Nora Al-Malki, Executive Manager of Development Projects. The event was also atatended by Ms. Najla Tarabzouni, Communications and Media Manager and Ms. Noura AlGhunaiman , Coordinator at Alwaleed Philanthropies.

“Hama” aims to support women’s empowerment issues, emphasize their leadership within the society, empower women, develop their productivity and enhance their capacity in functional and technical fields.
