Alwaleed Philanthropies & AVPN sign strategic MOU to advance philanthropy and social investment across Saudi Arabia & Asia-Pacific

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Tala Al Saud, announced a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AVPN, Asia's largest platform for social impact, to advance philanthropy, social impact, and collaboration between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The partnership draws on each organisation's distinct strengths: Alwaleed Philanthropies will anchor the partnership in Saudi Arabia's national priorities, facilitating access to local stakeholders and offering strategic insight into the Kingdom's evolving philanthropic environment, while AVPN will extend the partnership's reach by bringing regional and global perspectives, cross-border learning, and access to its wide network of funders and resource providers across Asia-Pacific. Together, the two organisations aim to reinforce Saudi Arabia's role as a key contributor to global philanthropic leadership, consistent with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals.

The MOU sets a framework for joint engagement across six priority areas:

  • Narrative and visibility: Co-developing a unified philanthropy narrative for the Kingdom that highlights its values, achievements, and growing leadership in social impact and sustainability.
  • Shared platforms for insight: Building joint data hubs and philanthropic indices to consolidate sector knowledge, identify gaps, and support evidence-based decision-making and investment.
  • Impact measurement and management: Co-creating and localising impact measurement and management (IMM) frameworks to standardise metrics and strengthen sector capacity across both regions.
  • Philanthropic landscape navigation: Developing a concierge model that helps local and global organisations engage effectively in Saudi Arabia’s philanthropic ecosystem, combining Alwaleed Philanthropies’ local expertise with AVPN’s convening power.
  • Blue Economy and sustainability: Partnering on initiatives that advance sustainable coastal livelihoods, blue carbon projects, and circular economy solutions, linking Saudi Arabia's environmental priorities with Asia-Pacific innovation in environmental stewardship.
  • Global engagement and convenings: Ensuring the Kingdom's strong representation in AVPN's regional and global initiatives

HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, said: “In Alwaleed Philanthropies we believe that lasting impact begins with partnerships that invest in human, strengthen communities, and create sustainable solutions for the future. Our collaboration with AVPN reflects our commitment to advancing Saudi Arabia’s non-profit sector in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, while creating meaningful opportunities for knowledge exchange and global collaboration. By working together, we can accelerate measurable impact and empower changemakers to drive lasting social progress.”

Naina Subberwal Batra, CEO of AVPN, added: “The signing of this MOU marks an important moment for the growth of philanthropy across Asia and the West Asia . AVPN has long championed strategic, evidence-based social impact , and we see great potential in combining that with Alwaleed Philanthropies’ reach and legacy within the Kingdom. What excites me most is the chance to build something genuinely new: shared infrastructure for insight, cross-regional pathways for collaboration, and a platform that positions Saudi Arabia’s philanthropic community on the world stage. This is not just a partnership between two organisations; it is a bridge between two of the world’s most dynamic regions at a time when collective action matters more than ever.”

Alwaleed Philanthropies and AVPN will engage in strategic storytelling and partnership development to raise the visibility of the Kingdom’s philanthropic efforts internationally, drawing on AVPN’s platforms, data capabilities, and global networks to highlight Saudi Arabia’s contributions to social impact and sustainable development.
