Alwaleed Philanthropies Supports “Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative” Graduation Ceremony
With support from Alwaleed Philanthropies under the leadership of the Chairman of the Board HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, “Women and Youth Empowerment” Program partners met in Dammam to celebrate the graduation and completion of “Women and Youth Empowerment”Program Phase I.
“Women and Youth Empowerment” is aimed at strengthening and promoting full and effective political participation of Saudi Arabian women’s participation in municipal councils. This program is part of Alwaleed Philanthropies’ activities aimed at supporting and advocating Saudi Arabian women leaders in various areas including financial, social and legal arenas. The program stems from the announcement by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, in his address to the Shura Council in 2011 empowering women socially in Saudi Arabia.
The event commenced with an opening statement from Ms. Abir Kaki, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, welcoming the audience and expressing her pride at the achievements of the program and hoping that the program was able to cultivate competence of Saudi female leaders. Furthermore, Ms. Nora Al Malki, Executive Manager of the Social Development Projects praised the graduates and all the partners on working diligently to ensure the success of Phase I.
Dr. Othman Alhasan Mohamed Nour represented the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI) and expressed their enthusiasm to start Phase II of the program.
“Baladi” Initiative was represented by Dr. Hatoon Al Fasi and Ms. Fawzia Al Hani, founding members of the initiative. They played a main role in coordinating, monitoring and evaluating Phase I of “Women and Youth Empowerment” program throughout the 13 provinces of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was concluded with a word from Nadine Saba, “Akar Development Network” representative sharing her experience with the Saudi women throughout the provinces of the Kingdom.
