This project aims to strengthen cultural preservation and artistic collaboration across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries by:
- Establishing a Crafts Council Fund led by Saudi Arabia and Qatar to support craft development in the Gulf region.
- Collaborating on the creation and production of artistic pieces, including the landmark “House of Arabia” project.
- Sharing data, research, and impact reports to support the growth of the creative economy in the region.
- Creating vocational schools and knowledge exchange programs to nurture future generations of artists and craftspeople.
- Participating actively in the Alwaleed Cultural Network (ACN).
- Organizing and participating in regional art biennales and festivals to showcase Gulf creativity.
Qatar Museums is a renowned cultural institution dedicated to promoting the arts, architecture, archaeology, heritage sites, and the creative sector. The organization undertakes significant cultural projects, exhibitions, and initiatives that contribute to the global art community.
Key Achievements in 2024
- Developed the concept for the “House of Arabia” project, designed to tour across the GCC countries, highlighting themes of “Unity” and “Shared Values” through traditional and contemporary craftsmanship.
- Initiated collaboration between Alwaleed Philanthropies and Qatar Museums to produce handcrafted items annually with each GCC country, emphasizing shared designs and cultural materials that reflect the unique heritage of each nation.
Looking Ahead
The project will continue to build on its foundational achievements by expanding partnerships across GCC countries, enhancing vocational training and knowledge exchange initiatives, and deepening cultural collaboration through art festivals and exhibitions. The ultimate goal is to preserve and celebrate Gulf heritage, foster regional unity, and promote a vibrant creative economy that supports artisans and cultural institutions for years to come.
