In partnership with
In a dedicated effort to enhance training quality and boost employability, job creation, and entrepreneurship in Morocco's textile, clothing, and leather industry, Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” has partnered with UNESCO – Morocco. This project, focused on Women & Youth Empowerment, aims to uplift these communities through improved vocational training and economic opportunities.
The Importance of Supporting the Textile Industry
Supporting the textile industry in Morocco is crucial, as it increases employment opportunities and supports the local economy, particularly in areas needing economic development. By improving training quality, we help artisans and trainers acquire the skills and tools necessary to deliver high-quality training, thus preserving and developing traditional arts.
Developing Vocational Training in Morocco's Textile Industry
The project aims to create models in vocational training within the textile industry, provide support for the training of trainers in the textile, clothing, and leather industry in Morocco, and equip master artisans with the skills and tools necessary to deliver high-quality training. This holistic approach ensures that the industry can maintain its cultural heritage while evolving to meet modern demands.
Year One: Advancements in Morocco's Textile Sector
In the first year, the project has made significant strides. A launch event was organized with the participation of nearly 30 representatives from ministries, public agencies, and professional associations operating in the sector. A thorough needs analysis and research on the state of training in the textile, clothing, and leather industry in Morocco were conducted, leading to the preparation of a comprehensive report on the assessment of management models in vocational training centers within the industry.
Future Impact
Running from 2023 to 2025, the project aims to achieve long-term benefits by improving training quality, increasing employment opportunities, and fostering an environment that supports entrepreneurship. Through this collaboration, Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” and UNESCO are committed to enhancing Morocco's textile industry, ensuring the continuity of traditional crafts while providing a sustainable future for artisans.
This initiative represents a significant step towards building a thriving community that relies on education and vocational training as a cornerstone for economic and social development.
