In partnership with

Alwaleed Philanthropies, in partnership with the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, is driving an initiative to develop capabilities in the artistic and cultural sectors, organize events that preserve heritage, and strengthen cultural identity. The project also emphasizes the support of volunteering and community service, alongside providing vocational training opportunities for Saudi youth. This initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and supports the mission of transforming Diriyah—Saudi Arabia’s first capital and a historic cornerstone of the kingdom—into a global cultural and heritage destination.

Uniting Efforts for a Sustainable Future

This initiative aims to consolidate and coordinate volunteer activities, enhancing their collective impact on the community. A key component is empowering women and youth by encouraging active involvement in volunteering, social services, and heritage preservation.

Additionally, the project supports local artisans by offering them a platform to display and promote their crafts through programs led by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. It also strengthens employment prospects for 400 young Saudi men and women through targeted vocational training, including a comprehensive work-readiness program that prepares participants for careers in global hospitality and tourism sectors.

Pillars of the Partnership and 2024 Achievements

This impactful partnership is structured around collaborative pillars designed to build long-term capacity and economic opportunity. Two major programs under this initiative have shown measurable success:

1. Education for Employment (EFE) Program

In collaboration with the global non-profit Education for Employment (EFE), the initiative has trained 50 young beneficiaries from Diriyah across three groups over three days, focusing on workplace excellence.

Third batch achievements:

16 additional trainees were prepared for entry into the labor market, qualifying for employment opportunities with the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. Roles include tour guides, golf cart drivers, event staff, and customer service agents.

2. Volunteering and Scouting Program

In partnership with the World Organization of the Scout Movement, the project fosters leadership and community engagement among youth in Diriyah:

Leadership training:

24 leaders from the Diriyah Gate Development Authority completed a foundational scouting course (December 19–23, 2023), supported by experienced Saudi trainers.

Scouting engagement:

100 young Scouts were enrolled and actively involved in multiple community-based activities. Notable events include:

Participation in National Flag Day, where 30 Scouts helped receive over 4,000 visitors.

Involvement in the Diriyah Celebration, featuring over 1,200 military personnel and government agency parades.

Contributions to 2024 Hajj season support, assisting pilgrims during their journey.

Looking Ahead

This partnership between Alwaleed Philanthropies and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority continues to foster youth empowerment, support local crafts, and preserve Saudi heritage through dynamic programs that reflect the spirit of Vision 2030. With tangible achievements in employment, leadership, and community service, the initiative is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and culturally enriched future for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
