Partnership Agreement Between DGDA and Alwaleed Philanthropies to Foster Crafts, Volunteering, and Cultural Heritage

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and Alwaleed Philanthropies have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in supporting crafts and craftsmen across various fields, promoting volunteering, and safeguarding cultural identity. The MoU was signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary-General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. Their partnership will encompass craftspeople training, local product support, and creator assistance.

The goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, outlined in Cabinet Resolution No. 308 on 18/07/1437H, aim to unite efforts, simplify procedures, and activate the responsibilities of entities for effective task execution, ensuring adaptability in the face of challenges. This aligns with The Diriyah Gate Development Authority's mission to develop Diriyah into a significant historical site in Saudi Arabia. As the first capital of the Saudi state, Diriyah's historical importance is integral to the Kingdom's foundation. The Authority's objective is to showcase the city's deep-rooted history in urbanization, culture, arts, and knowledge, offering an unforgettable exploration of Saudi Arabia's cultural treasure. This is achieved through collaboration between governmental and private entities, contributing to cultural and economic development and enhancing governance.

Both organizations recognize the value of working together to achieve their shared objectives. The collaboration will focus on enhancing arts and culture capabilities, coordinating media coverage, and organizing events. This partnership aligns with DGDA's strategies to contribute to local development, preserve cultural heritage, and deepen social impact in the Diriyah community through the ongoing Diriyah Gate project.

A Glimpse of the Project Objectives

A glimpse into the project objectives reveals a multifaceted approach to transformation. Firstly, it seeks to harmonize volunteer initiatives, uniting their endeavors to magnify their societal impact. Secondly, a crucial partnership is established, aiming to empower women and youth, nurturing their roles in volunteerism, community service, and areas of shared concern.

The collaboration extends its support to craftsmen, offering them a platform to showcase their creative endeavors within the realm of crafts and products through the DGDA's initiatives. Additionally, the project is committed to elevating employment prospects, focusing on the training and professional growth of 400 young Saudi talents over a span of two transformative years. Furthermore, a special emphasis is placed on Saudi youth through the Training-to-Employment program, equipping them with the essential skills required to excel in the dynamic international hospitality industry.

Forming Strong Partnerships: The Pillars of Collaboration

At the core of this collaboration lie three pivotal pillars: the Education for Employment (EFE) Project, aimed at enhancing vocational opportunities; The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA), the driving force behind the project's vision; and the World Scout Organization, contributing its expertise to empower the youth and foster community engagement. Together, these pillars form a cohesive foundation for the project's success, each playing a distinctive role in realizing its transformative goals.

A Journey through Time: 2022 and Beyond

Volunteer Project – Scouts

In 2022, a series of pivotal meetings resonated with the World Scout team's intent to engage Diriyah's youth in their transformative Scout project. Evaluations are underway to determine their readiness for potential scout-related future endeavors. An addendum to the agreement, accommodating the inclusion of 100 scouts, is currently in progress.

EFE Training Project

This year also witnessed an array of crucial discussions with the EFE team in Saudi Arabia. The conversations circled around the meticulous training of 100 young men and women, focusing on empowering them with skills needed for their professional journey. After reaching a consensus on the work mechanism and budget, the journey towards finalizing the agreement with our esteemed partner has commenced.

Hotels Project – Craftswomen and Craftsmen

In a milestone meeting, Engineer Imran, the Executive Director of Hotels, played a pivotal role. The institution was officially designated as the supplier of the craft pieces. A comprehensive profile was thoughtfully disseminated to all hotels through the engineer's capable hands. Additionally, conversations flourished with the managers of renowned establishments like Four Seasons Hotel and Accor Hotel. This enthusiastic exchange paved the way for interviews with craftspersons from Diriyah, considering their valuable inclusion in the crafting project at Princess Nourah University. This venture breathes life into the Kingdom's historical narrative, as these artisans' hands shape the very tapestry of its future.
