Alwaleed Philanthropies supports 2,700 Palestinian artisans by enhancing skills, promoting market access, and fostering sustainable craft industry growth while preserving cultural heritage and creating economic opportunities.

In an effort to empower the craft industry in Palestine, Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” has joined forces with Turquoise Mountain in Bethlehem, dedicated to supporting Palestinian artisans by promoting financial sustainability, enhancing design innovation, and creating new market opportunities.

The Importance of Preserving Palestinian Crafts:

  • Cultural Heritage: Safeguarding traditional crafts ensures they thrive for future generations.
  • Economic Empowerment: Artisans gain a critical source of income, strengthening local economies in regions with limited employment.
  • Innovation & Growth: By helping artisans develop new products and reach global markets, we foster economic resilience and cultural exchange.

2025 Achievements

  • Expanding Support for Artisan Workshops: Extended support to 42 artisan workshops and strengthened the resilience of 20 workshops during crises through production support, sales facilitation, and emergency financial assistance for 21 artisans.
  • Facilitating Market Access and Income Stability: Enabled sales worth USD 154,304 for Palestinian artisans, in addition to USD 31,483 in product orders, contributing to greater income stability and economic resilience.
  • Launching New Product Collections and Expanding Global Reach: Developed and launched 15 new premium product collections and expanded international market presence through partnerships with Volga Linens and Pippa Small, as well as exhibitions at Ithra, the Abu Dhabi Art Fair, and Sotheby’s London.
  • Advancing Digital Market Access: Enabled 14 artisans to access digital sales channels, broadening their customer base and expanding their long-term market opportunities.

The Impact and Future Plans

From 2023 to 2026, this initiative will benefit more than 600 artisans. By focusing on market access, design innovation, and entrepreneurship, we’re building a self-sustaining craft industry that honors Palestinian heritage while securing livelihoods.
