Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" Team Secures 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Title in Al-Husain International Equestrian Endurance Competition

AP Equestrian Team Embodies Prince Alwaleed’s Vision for Promoting Sports Among Today’s Youth 

The Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP) Equestrian Team, which is owned by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), and Chairman of the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" (AP), secured the prestigious 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place titles on Saturday, November 14, 2015 in Al-Husain International Equestrian Endurance Race in Wadi Rum, in southern Jordan. 

Abdulaziz Al Duweesh achieved the 1st place in the 120km race. Furthermore, Abdulaziz Al Mohawes succeeded in securing the 2st place, and Mohammed Areesa in securing the 3rd place in the 80km race on behalf of the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" Equestrian team. The AP team, formally known as Kingdom Equestrian Team, recently changed its name to the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" Equestrian Team, to kick off the start of the new season. The team won 3rd place in their first Championship League in the 100km Youth National Endurance Race in Abqaiq on November 7, 2015. Empowering today’s youth to engage more widely in sports activities is one of the main areas of focus of the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global".

Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, Executive Manager of Media & Communications of the Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" commented that this name change reflects His Royal Highness's strong belief in the importance of youth empowerment through sports. This announcement also highlights HRH Prince Alwaleed’s support and encouragement of allowing both genders to participate and excel in all fields of sports. The Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" plan to continue building the AP Equestrian Team’s record of accomplishments in the field of racing both locally and globally. She also mentioned that a portion of the cash prizes awarded to the team will go to benefit humanitarian causes. 

Team coach, Najeeb Al Brjs noted, “This team’s aim is not only to win competitions, but to be an inspiration and model to all Saudi youth, demonstrating how much one can accomplish working together with focus and dedication.”
