Alwaleed Philanthropies Dates Back 40 Years

Like all beginnings, 40 years ago, the young prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud outlined his first steps in the world of investment and entrepreneurship from the Kingdom Saudi Arabia. With every success he achieved, he increased his desire to give, to support the needy, and to foster charitable projects and qualitative initiatives in all fields all around the world, regardless of race, religion or gender. Meanwhile, HRH Alwaleed bin Talal was motivated by human duty, Arab Tradition, and high Islamic values.

On the basis of His Highness's firmly certain faith in the words of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him: “Wealth is not diminished by giving in charity.", and adhering to paying Zakat in its true sense, which is one of the pillars of Islam, and an embodiment of HRH Alwaleed bin Talal's deep passion for humanitarian work, and his desire to achieve a better future for all humanity, the Charitable Foundation, from the very beginning, grew with the women's charitable section (1-1-1980) at the national level, and within a short period of time, humanitarian aid prevailed internationally.

Then Alwaleed Philanthropies developed under the supervision of His Highness together with the management teamwork of ten Saudi women. Thereby the Foundation soon flourished and its donations covered the entire world. During four decades great achievements were made in six continents, 189 countries, and hundreds of domestic, regional and international partners, 1000 implemented projects, 15 billion Saudi riyals spent for charity, plus a billion beneficiaries around the world.

His Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, is looking forward to achieving more goals in the field of humanitarian work, and hopes that peace and prosperity will prevail throughout the world via enhancing cultural understanding and building bridges of communication between civilizations for a more compassionate, tolerant and accepting world.

For 4 decades, Alwaleed Philanthropies has supported and spent more than 4 billion dollars on social welfare and initiated more than 1000 projects in over +189 countries, managed by 10 Saudi female members, reaching more than 1 billion beneficiaries around the world, regardless of gender, race, or religion. Alwaleed Philanthropies collaborates with a range of philanthropic, governmental, and educational organizations to combat poverty, empower women and youth, develop communities, provide disaster relief and create cultural understanding through education. It seeks to build bridges for a more compassionate, tolerant, and accepting world.
