Alwaleed Philanthropies Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority to Support Innovation in Scientific and Technological Fields

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the research, development, and innovation ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal AlSaud, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDIA) as part of Leap Confrence. This agreement aligns with both parties’ commitment to fostering collaboration in scientific research and technological innovation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Dr. Mohammed bin Owaid Al-Otaibi, Acting General Supervisor of RDIA.
The agreement aims to support young talent, with a particular focus on empowering female professionals. Each year, a select number of female students will receive support to pursue their higher education at the world’s top 30 universities in critical fields such as artificial intelligence and renewable energy. Additionally, the agreement includes support for national alliances dedicated to addressing chronic diseases such as cancer, obesity, and diabetes, in alignment with national healthcare priorities.
For over four decades, Alwaleed Philanthropies has invested more than $5 billion in social welfare, launching over 1000 projects across 190+ countries. Managed by 10 Saudi women, the foundation has reached more than 1 billion people worldwide, regardless of gender, race, or religion. It collaborates with various philanthropic, governmental, and nongovernmental organizations to empower women and youth, develop communities, provide disaster relief, promote cultural understanding, and support healthier environment.
