Unlocking the Potential of Culture
In a world where culture is a cornerstone of identity and resilience, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and UNESCO have partnered to transform communities through cultural education and employment. This landmark initiative leverages the power of culture to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Argentina and Tanzania, with the aim of fostering inclusive, sustainable, and locally driven development.
Empowering Communities Through Culture
At the core of this initiative are the communities surrounding cultural institutions—from heritage sites to local museums. These communities hold rich cultural heritage that, when supported, can drive meaningful social and economic growth.By equipping individuals with vocational skills tied to their heritage, this program fosters long-term development that benefits entire regions.
Argentina: Preserving and Celebrating Cultural Heritage
In Argentina, the initiative focuses on preserving cultural heritage through targeted TVET programs that revitalize traditional knowledge and foster economic independence.
Tanzania: Nurturing Local Culture and Creativity
In Tanzania, the emphasis is on equipping communities with vocational skills linked to cultural preservation and innovation, ensuring long-term social and economic impact.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET): A Gateway to Opportunity
TVET lies at the heart of this initiative. By offering high-quality, culture-focused vocational training, the program provides individuals with the tools to:
- Master traditional crafts.
- Become skilled artisans.
- Manage cultural institutions.
This targeted education opens doors to meaningful employment rooted in cultural identity.
Empowering Women and Youth
A network of mentors—50% of whom are women—is being developed. Through intensive training, women and youth are prepared to become mentors themselves, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem of skill-sharing and leadership in the cultural sector.

2024 Achievements
Argentina
- Delivered professional training and masterclasses to 400 artisans focused on craftsmanship and creative skills development.
