Empowering Artisans

One of Qimam and Shem strategies is to empower craftswomen, therefore, as part of the economic empowerment program for craftsmen in the Khairat Asir project, cooperation has been established with the Ministries of Culture and Human Resources & Social Development, in addition to an academy for practical training through workshops, as well as theoretical training and motivational courses, where cooperation will take place with our global partner, the Jordan River Foundation, to cooperate in achieving the strategy initiatives of Aseer Development Authority through partnership with Alwaleed Philanthropies to enable local producers, craftsmen and farmers to develop local products and industries through the establishment of a creative center for craftsmen and the preparation of the place.

Project Objectives:

  • Develop the local community’s economy through the use of local materials.
  • Empower craftswomen by creating job opportunities within the artisans’ project.
  • Preserve Saudi crafts while enhancing production and marketing.

Transforming “Beit Muftaha” into a Creative Handicrafts Center

As part of its efforts to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen national identity, Alwaleed Philanthropies collaborated with specialized partners to restore and refurbish the historic A“Beit Muftaha” bulding. It has been transformed into a Creative Handicrafts Center, providing a dedicated space for artisans to innovate and expand their craft.

This center supports a wide range of traditional arts and crafts, offering artisans a platform to develop skills, enhance production, and contribute to both heritage preservation and local economic growth. More than 45 talented artisans are actively involved, producing high-quality handcrafted products that represent the Kingdom’s cultural legacy.
