A Strategic Partnership
Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global” partnered with the AMAR International Charitable Foundation to rehabilitate and operate two primary healthcare centers in Iraq. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to providing essential healthcare services to internally displaced persons, many of whom live in camps with limited medical support.
Addressing Urgent Healthcare Needs
Iraq is home to approximately 195,000 IDPs, many of whom remain in displacement camps as they await the opportunity to return home. These communities face serious challenges in accessing quality healthcare. In response, this project has focused on refurbishing, equipping, and operating two primary healthcare clinics in the IDP camps of Essayan and Kabarto 1.

Goals for Progress
The primary goal is to improve health outcomes and overall well-being for displaced populations by delivering comprehensive healthcare services. This includes medical consultations, laboratory tests, home health visits, and referrals — all crucial in bridging gaps in care for vulnerable communities.
2023 Achievements
In the first year, the initiative made meaningful progress:
- 35,706 medical consultations
- 11,026 lab tests
- 2,286 health visits
- Total services delivered: 49,018
These achievements highlight the strong impact of targeted healthcare services in improving the lives of those most in need.
Empowering Vulnerable Communities
Beyond medical support, the program has prioritized the empowerment of marginalized groups, especially women and youth, within the IDP camps. By mobilizing female health volunteers and responding directly to community needs, the project fosters resilience, inclusion, and long-term sustainability.
2024 Achievements:
As the project concludes in 2024, the results are both inspiring and impactful:
- 35,500 IDPs received care
- A total of 96,740 services were delivered, including consultations, tests, health visits, and referrals
- Local healthcare staff were trained, enhancing the management of medical records and aligning practices with World Health Organization (WHO) standards
- The initiative strengthened long-term healthcare sustainability through capacity building and system integration
This partnership demonstrates how coordinated efforts can lead to transformative change, especially in crisis-affected regions. Together, Alwaleed Philanthropies "Global" and the AMAR Foundation are building a more compassionate, resilient, and inclusive future—one where displaced populations are not left behind, but are supported with dignity and care.
