Alwaleed Philanthropies and Saudi Arabian Scout Association Sign Strategic Agreement to Empower Youth and Promote Sustainable Community Development

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Saudi Arabian Scout Association, reflecting their shared commitment to empowering women and youth in the Scouting field. The initiative seeks to enhance the potential of young Saudis across all sectors, enabling their active participation in the progress of Saudi society and supporting broader regional and global development in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

The agreement was signed by HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and His Excellency Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, President of the Saudi Arabian Scout Association. It aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by expanding the role of Alwaleed Philanthropies and Saudi Arabian Scout Association in youth engagement and community service across the Kingdom. Key initiatives include promoting Scouting in neighborhoods and various regions, collaborating with municipalities on urban development projects, and implementing community-focused programs with Scouting sectors and other partners.

By working together, aiming to create meaningful opportunities for both young men and women to engage in community development, while also supporting efforts to attract exceptional talent to the Scouting movement. Additional objectives include training Scout leaders within neighborhoods and sectors, improving Scouting practices, strengthening volunteerism, enhancing the public perception of Scouting in Saudi Arabia, and delivering leadership development through training programs and Scouting activities.

The partnership also outlines plans to establish mechanisms that ensure the sustainability of the project. It emphasizes equipping youth with tools that enable them to contribute effectively as individuals and responsible citizens, while fostering a sense of purpose and agency that empowers them to help build a better society.

For over four decades, Alwaleed Philanthropies has invested more than $5 billion in social welfare, launching over 1000 projects across 190+ countries. Managed by 10 Saudi women, the foundation has reached more than 1.5 billion people worldwide, regardless of gender, race, or religion. It collaborates with various philanthropic, governmental, and nongovernmental organizations to empower women and youth, develop communities, provide disaster relief, promote cultural understanding, and support healthier environment.
