Alwaleed Philanthropies Signs MoU with King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority to Promote Sustainable Development and Heritage Preservation

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal AlSaud, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority at the foundation’s headquarters in Riyadh. This agreement aims to collaborate on projects and programs that enhance sustainable development, empower local communities, and preserve cultural heritage, in addition to supporting environmental and volunteer efforts.
The MoU was signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Engineer Maher bin Abdullah Al-Qathmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority. The agreement focuses on aligning the roles of both parties to achieve a lasting impact that reflects Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of advancing development and social responsibility.
On this occasion, HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud stated, “We believe that impactful partnerships are the cornerstone of achieving sustainable development. Through this collaboration, we strive to create opportunities that empower communities and support environmental and cultural initiatives that contribute to a more advanced future for all.”

Engineer Maher bin Abdullah Al-Qathmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, emphasized that signing this MoU with Alwaleed Philanthropies represents a strategic step toward fostering environmental sustainability and supporting both local and global efforts to combat desertification. He noted that this partnership will contribute to empowering local communities through joint projects that enhance capacity-building and provide sustainable development opportunities.
The agreement outlines cooperation on projects related to establishing cultural assets, preserving cultural heritage, engaging youth in volunteerism, promoting environmental sustainability, combating desertification, utilizing artificial intelligence in environmental decision making, and facilitating knowledge exchange among experts. Additionally, it includes showcasing select artifacts discovered within the reserve as part of Alwaleed Philanthropies' partnerships with global museums.
For over four decades, Alwaleed Philanthropies has invested more than $5 billion in social welfare, launching over 1000 projects across 190+ countries. Managed by 10 Saudi women, the foundation has reached more than 1 billion people worldwide, regardless of gender, race, or religion.
