For The Second Year in a Row, Alwaleed Philanthropies Sends 100 Students in Edinburgh as part of the Ambassador of Peaceful Dialogue Program

For its second year, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, sponsored 100 students as a part of the Ambassador of Peaceful Dialogue Program in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue, the Ministry of Higher Education, Saudi Ministry of Labor and Social Development, and Fly Nas Airlines. The summer program aims to involve students in a three-week intensive cultural program based at one of Alwaleed Philanthropies six academic centers, which is University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Sponsoring students this year included students from special needs and the children of martyrs of duty to enrich their culture dialogue to reflect their positive impact on their performance in various fields. During the program, students will receive different courses in English and cultural exchange, and participate in a range of activities in Edinburgh with local university students, as well as the recognition of the history and culture of Scotland by visiting the Scottish National Museum. Furthermore, implementing the main objective of the program is to introduce the correct Islamic Arab culture and highlight the Saudi identity.

Summer scholarship is the last stage of the four stages on which the project depends, where the first phase is based on the training of young people in the development of communication skills in dialogue. Then to identify the program of cultural and intellectual dialogue through workshops aimed at providing an opportunity to apply concepts, convictions and skills gained from training programs through interactive activities and panel discussions. Lastly, reach the results of self-assessment through obtaining the scholarship by implementing what participants gained from the previous stages.

The Ambassador of Peaceful Dialogue Program aims at providing participants with the skills of civilizational dialogue by promoting the principles of moderation, coexistence and the consolidation of human values. It also aims to effectively apply basic communication and dialogue skills, accept other cultures and civilizations, and awareness of the importance of humanitarian participants in achieving community coexistence and world peace. Furthermore, the formation of positive attitudes towards accepting and cooperating with other, and the ability to influence positively and lead effective initiatives. Furthermore, the program has proved to be successful, which has been training 1000 students so far at the Academy of King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue and ended up sponsoring 100 beneficiaries to the University of Edinburgh for a month on last year. The Executive Manager of the National Initiatives, Ms. Amal Al Kathiri, stated “The project aims to promote the principle of patriotism and raise the humanitarian dialogue to represent our dear country, and we look forward to supporting young leaders to complement the Ambassador of Peaceful Dialogue next year”.
