As part of ongoing efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and support community initiatives, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal AlSaud, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve Development Authority. The agreement aims to empower local communities, promote volunteerism, preserve the environment and national heritage, and develop ecotourism in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

The MoU was signed by HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Dr. Talal Al-Harigi, CEO of the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve Development Authority. The partnership seeks to launch sustainable development initiatives across the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve and the King Khalid Royal Reserve, contributing to the training of national talents, generating direct and indirect job opportunities, and increasing youth participation in environmental and developmental activities.

Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary-General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, has been reappointed as UN-Habitat’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Arab region for a third term from 2025 to 2026. 

Since her appointment as the first-ever UN-Habitat Goodwill Ambassador for the Arab region in 2020, Princess Lamia has been an advocate for safe, sustainable, and resilient cities, gender and youth inclusion, and innovation-driven urban development. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing UN-Habitat’s mandate to promote adequate housing and sustainable urbanization across the region. 

Over the years, Princess Lamia has helped UN-Habitat mobilize resources to support crisis response, assist communities in building back better post conflict, and ensure access to adequate housing for all.  

In her renewed role for 2025-2026, Princess Lamia will continue to champion UN-Habitat’s goals, with a special focus on integrating innovation to enhance environmental sustainability. Her work will build on her longstanding commitment to advancing urban resilience and fostering partnerships across the region.

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal AlSaud, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority at the foundation’s headquarters in Riyadh. This agreement aims to collaborate on projects and programs that enhance sustainable development, empower local communities, and preserve cultural heritage, in addition to supporting environmental and volunteer efforts.

The MoU was signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Engineer Maher bin Abdullah Al-Qathmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority. The agreement focuses on aligning the roles of both parties to achieve a lasting impact that reflects Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of advancing development and social responsibility.

On this occasion, HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud stated, “We believe that impactful partnerships are the cornerstone of achieving sustainable development. Through this collaboration, we strive to create opportunities that empower communities and support environmental and cultural initiatives that contribute to a more advanced future for all.”

This agreement aligns with both parties’ commitment to fostering collaboration in scientific research and technological innovation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
